QUESTIONNAIRE FOR MINING ENGINEERS

Based on the Decision of the Scientific and teaching Council at the Mining  faculty Prijedor, in accordance with the needs of the Report on self-evaluation study of the mining standards and procedures are regulated by the Law on Higher Education of the RS (Official Gazette 85/06 and 30/07). Standards and procedures for self-evaluation as determined by the BiH Agency for Higher Education, based on the criteria for self assessment and quality of higher education institutions and study programs.

Before your answers to the questions below, we provide a brief overview of the study program Mining, under which students attend school from the academic year 2009/10.

BRIEFDESCRIPTION OF THESTUDYPROGRAMME:

Bachelor degree program of study are mediated by Mining 240 credits, within  four  academic year.

In the first two years of study, students are trained in the field of natural mathematics sciences, (Physics1 and 2, chemistry-general and inorganic, Mathematics 1 and 2, Applied statistics and mechanics). There are also education process is organized by the general engineering disciplines (Thermodynamics, Fundamental mechanic and Basics of electrical engineering, Technology of materials, Resistant of the materials, Engineering graphics) and specific mining and geological disciplines (Soil and rock mechanics, Geomechanics, Basics of geology, Mineralogy and petrology and mineral raw material deposits).

The third and fourth years of study consisting of compulsory and optional/elective subjects of specific mining areas: Surface mining of mineral deposits, Underground mining of mineral deposits, Mineral processing. Mining Study program has a general character but different combinations of optional/elective subjects/topics profiled some direction and give the necessary knowledge (Exploration of minerla raw material deposits, Construction of underground facilities, Mineral processing, Drilling and blasting, Engineering Economics and Management, Ventilation in Mining, Mine Surveying, Mining Machinery, Methods of surface mining, Underground mining methods, Mining haulage, Methods of concentration, Dewatering in mining, Technical protection and regulation, Open pit Design, Design in underground mining, Design of mineral processing and Final work).

The number of compulsory/credit subjects: 27                                        .
Number of elective subjects/topics: 10 and a final paper (as of 34 available)

Thank you for your cooperation and your time for completing the questionnaire, because without your contribution and participation in further work and development of the Mining Faculty of Prijedor, it is not possible to set realistic framework for the realization of the objectives and long-term plans and goals of the higher education institutions.

Is the structure of the curriculum of the Faculty of Mining Prijedor satisfactory in terms of obtaining a sufficient level of knowledge of the mining engineers -beginners?

Is the structure of compulsory and optional subjects satisfactory?

Is it necessary a bigger number of elective topics that students would be directed to a particular specialty (surface mining, underground mining, mineral processing) or it is necessary that the curriculum is more general in terms of obtaining "general" level of knowledge by mining engineer?

Is it necessary to organize the teaching modules where they will be defined by an appropriate combination of compulsory and optional subjects, which profiled the module?

The level of field work to be developed. In your opinion, how-to practical field work should be organized?

In your opinion, whether the field work should be compulsory and should be scored in the predicted number of ECTS points?

According to your experience in previous work, which items may be added to the group of natural and mathematical sciences, to the group of general engineering disciplines or to the group of specific mining and geological disciplines?

What you have like most striking knowledge, what are knowledges that you should have in practice, and that best practices you have been using in your work?
